As part of recent product enhancements, we have launched a new functionality - verifying end-users via MS Authenticator. This article provides a walkthrough on leveraging that functionality on the CyberQP dashboard.
Note: End-user verification via MS Authenticator functionality is available only on the CyberQP Dashboard. We are planning to release this functionality on PSA platforms in the future.
Pre-requisites
- End-users should have their M365 account registered with the MS Authenticator app on their phone (steps mentioned below)
- End-user's phones should be connected to the Internet
- End User Account imported to the Dashboard must be sourced from M365 only or AD with M365 Password Sync Enabled.
Steps to verify user identity via MS Authenticator
- Access the end-user list view and click on the 3 dots menu for the end-user you want to verify
- Click on the 'Verify User Identity' option and select 'MS Authenticator' under the 'Push Notification' section
- The end-user will receive a push notification on their MS Authenticator app on their phone which they would have to approve within a minute
- If the end-user approves the notification within a minute then a success modal appears on the UI
- If the end-user rejects the notification within a minute then 'Identity Verification Denied' modal appears on the UI
- If the end-user fails to approve the notification within a minute then a timeout modal appears on the UI
- If the end-user approves the notification within a minute then a success modal appears on the UI
For end-users
- Click on this link (https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info) and sign-in using the required MS account.
- Click on '+ Add sign-in method'
- In the 'Add the method' dialog box, select 'Authenticator app' and click on 'Add'
- Click on 'Next' as shown below
- Click on 'Next' to view the QR code
- Scan the QR code on your mobile device and enter the number displayed on your screen onto the sign-in notification dialog box on Authenticator app
- After entering the number, click on 'Next' (which becomes enabled after performing the previous step) to view the success screen
Troubleshooting
If the 'MS Authenticator' option is greyed out or the end-user is unable to receive any push notification on, please ensure you have completed all the steps (Granting Read and Write all applications and Adding Authenticator app) mentioned in this article and make sure the end-user has their account setup with MS Authenticator app - How to Setup Customer Identity Verification Using MS Authenticator
