Purpose
This article outlines a process in Connectwise RMM to quietly monitor the Quickpass Server Agent service running on a host machine(s) so you are alerted if the service stops running and is unable to restart.
Setup
The following steps detail how to configure and deploy the service monitor to your target machines.
1. Navigate to Connectwise RMM
2. Navigate to Alert Management > Monitors
3. Click Create Monitor in the top right corner
4. In the Edit Monitor window, define all mandatory fields as shown below, adjust for your business needs
5. Under Conditions, ensure the Service field contains 'Quickpass Server Agent' and is set to 'is stopped'
6. In Targeted Resources, click Edit Selection to adjust the machines you want the monitor to target
7. Ensure the toggle is enabled for both Automatically start Quickpass Server Agent when stopped and Automatically resolve when Quickpass Server Agent is running
8. Once the Edit Monitor is configured as desired, click Save
View Monitor Results
As configured, if the Quickpass Server Agent service is stopped on a target machine, the monitor will attempt to restart the service. If the service cannot be restarted, or is not found, an internal ticket will automatically be submitted with all relevant details for your team to review.
1. The Monitor menu will show the newly created monitor as Enabled
2. If a Monitor event is raised an internal ticket will automatically be created in the Tickets menu - the ticket will contain all relevant information including machine name, company name, site name, etc.
3. If you find the Monitor is creating unwanted noise with automatically resolved tickets, you may choose to adjust the Monitor to alert if the service has been stopped for 5 minutes, or whichever time period fits your business needs
